Timeline of the COVID 19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic began on 22 March 2020. The infectious disease was first identified in the Chinese city of Wuhan. On the evening of 24 March 2020, the Government of India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ordered a nationwide lockdown for 21 days, restricting the movement of the entire nation as a preventive measure against the pandemic in India. The pandemic resulted in severe global, social, and economic disruption. It led to widespread supply shortages, worsened by panic buying, agricultural disruption, and food scarcity. However, it also caused temporary decreases in emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases. Educational institutions such as schools and colleges remained closed from March 2020, and online classes for students began in August 2020. Many events were cancelled or postponed. The following places that we visited in Udaipur: • Shri Eklingji Temple : A Hindu temple complex in Udaipur District of Rajasthan in western India. It is situated in Kailashpuri village, near the former capital of Mewar, i.e., Nagda. Eklingji is believed to be the ruling god of Mewar Princely State and the Maharana rules as his Dewan. • Lake Pichola : Situated in Udaipur city in the Indian state of Rajasthan, it is an artificial fresh water lake, created in the year 1362, named after the nearby Picholi village. It is one of the several contiguous lakes, and developed over the last few centuries in and around the famous Udaipur city. • Taj Mahal Palace : The 5 star hotel in Udaipur located on an island in the midst of Lake Pichola. It is one of the several contiguous lakes, and developed over the last few centuries in and around the famous Udaipur city. The places we visited in Tripura: • Tripura Sundari Temple: One of the most revered Shakti Peethas in India, Tripura Sundari Temple—also known as Matabari—is located in Udaipur. The temple, dedicated to Goddess Tripura Sundari, features a distinctive square-shaped sanctum and attracts thousands of devotees throughout the year. • Bhubaneswari Temple: Situated on the banks of the Gomati River, Bhubaneswari Temple is a renowned Hindu shrine dedicated to Goddess Bhuvaneswari. Its elegant architectural style and cultural significance are further enhanced by its mention in Rabindranath Tagore’s literary works. • Kalyan Sagar Lake: Located adjacent to the Tripura Sundari Temple, Kalyan Sagar is a serene and scenic lake known for its abundance of fish species.
