Places We Visited • Darwaza-i-Rauza (Great Gate): Darwaza-i-Rauza is the grand entrance to the Taj Mahal complex. It is one of the four main components of the complex, along with the mausoleum, mosque, and guest pavilion. The gateway opens into the beautiful Mughal gardens, which symbolize paradise in Islamic tradition. Because of its magnificent appearance, it is also known as the Great Gate. • Sidhi Darwaza (South Gate): The Sidhi Darwaza, also called the South Gate, is located directly opposite the Great Gate and is perfectly aligned with the East Gate, West Gate, and the Taj Mahal itself. Built on a slightly elevated platform, it is distinguished by its four decorative pillars.
