Timeline of the COVID 19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic began on 22 March 2020. The infectious disease was first identified in the Chinese city of Wuhan. On the evening of 24 March 2020, the Government of India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ordered a nationwide lockdown for 21 days, restricting the movement of the entire nation as a preventive measure against the pandemic in India.

The pandemic resulted in severe global, social, and economic disruption. It led to widespread supply shortages, worsened by panic buying, agricultural disruption, and food scarcity. However, it also caused temporary decreases in emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases. Educational institutions such as schools and colleges remained closed from March 2020, and online classes for students began in August 2020. Many events were cancelled or postponed.
